The Oscars!!!!

If you remember last year, I blogged about the Oscars in "real time." All my thoughts and comments straight from my mouth and head onto here! This is going to be the same type of deal! Enjoy!

Here are my guesses before it starts for some of the major categories. Now I've only seen 2 of 8 of the best picture category and none from the other main categories, so here goes nothing :
Best Picture: American Sniper *wrong*
Best Actor in Leading Role: Eddie Redmayne, The Theory of Everything
Best Actress in Leading Role: Julianne Moore, Still Alice
Best Supporting Actor: Robert Duvall, The Judge *wrong*
Best Supporting Actress: Emma Stone, Birdman *wrong*

RED CARPET:
*I want to go to a fancy award show! It is mind boggling that most those dresses the actresses are wearing cost WAY more then my wedding dress.... INSANE... Do they get to keep the dress? Does anyone know?
*Geeze... Dakota Johnson is sassy towards her mom. Her mom didn't want to see 50 Shades and Dakota got all Diva on her mom. RUDE, that's your mother, she doesn't want to see you in a sex bondage film!!
*wow! 6,000 pearl dress! Yeah, she's not keeping that one. Lupita Nyong'o looks like a Tahitian costume!
uhmmmm Anna Kendrick is GORGEOUS!
*JLO, she's always so pretty and seems like she is super nice and would be fun to hang out with.
*AHHH Emma Stone! I just love her! Not a huge fan of her dress, but it does look good on her. She can't stop looking at Clint Eastwood! HAHA. Her mom is her date! SO CUTE!
*Taya Kyle, ugh I hope American Sniper gets some kind of Award!!! Such a hero.

INTRO:
*Neil Patrick Harris, so far so good. The song is a little weird but I like the effects in the background. I've never seen that in an award show yet. But, it'll be hard to top Ellen... just sayin.
*Anna Kendrick joins in on this musical?! Say what?! Awesome!
*HAHAHA Jack Black! Yes!!!! Okay, this musical number is getting better and better!
*oh snap! did you see that look Oprah gave when NPH made fun of her! HAHAHAH She's pissed!

AWARDS: Let's see how long I'll last... (Side note: is it just me or has anyone heard of any of these movies besides American Sniper?! I feel like most of these weren't advertised at all! The only reason I knew of some was because I had to look them up after the Oscar nominees came out.... LAME)

*first award of the night, Actor in a supporting role is.... J.K Simmons, Whiplash. Never saw the movie but it looked good!

*Costume design award went to Grand Budapest Hotel... lame.. I thought Into The Woods or Maleficent would've won.

*Hair and Makeup award also goes to Grand Budapest Hotel. This is the other movie I've seen in the best picture category and I didn't enjoy that movie.... at all!

*I want to be a seat filler!!! That would be so fun.

*oh gosh... the Lego movie song..... EVERYTHING IS AWESOOOOOME! EVERYTHING IS COOL WHEN YOU'RE PART OF A TEAM!!! You're welcome, that song will be stuck in your head all day now! It is stuck in mine too..

*NPH... really, in whitey tighties?! No, I do not want to see your junk on the big screen. This is the Oscars, have some class.

*I thought sound editing and sound mixing were the same thing.... awkward...

*Best supporting Actress goes to:*please don't be Meryl Streep* Patricia Arquette, Boyhood... She is looking kind of haggard. Really, throw a political stance in her speech?! Just stop...
That seriously annoys me! That's like me going up there and saying, "Thank you ___, and thank you_____..... and.... DON'T KILL BABIES! Thank you." Then I go sit back down. Just don't... Not the time or place! D adds, "That's like me saying 'This is our time! there are too many men without sandwiches in their hands! Get back in the kitchen! SANDWICH! SANDWICH'" HAHAHAHHAHA

Last night this photo was circling around twitter and I'm still laughing!!! He totally looks like Jesus looking over her1!!!
*It's almost over and I'm struggle to stay awake..... con of living on the east coast.... zzzzzzz

NPH is just NOT FUNNY!!!! Not a fan of him hosting this year.

*Loving this Sound of Music highlights!!! The movie is seriously a classic! And Lady Gaga singing A Medley?! LOVE IT! Lady Gaga has an amazing voice. She doesn't need the electronic beats behind her. Probably the best part of the whole night.
*AHHHH Then there's Julie Andrews Presenting! I LOVE HER!!!!!! Clearly I love a lot of celebrities... haha!

oh my gosh... I need to go to bed. They are running WAYYYY BEHIND! Sorry guys. I'm disappointed in myself too.

Philly Weekend!

A few weekends ago we took a 2 day trip up to Philadelphia. We really had to do research to find things to do besides the obvious, Independence Hall.

After talking with some people from church they mentioned Reading Terminal Market. Never have heard of it? Yeah, me either. The best way to describe it is a HUGE indoor food court. Except it has foods of all kinds! Chinese, Dutch, Cheesteaks (duh), Seafood market, a regular meat market, flower shop, even a mini grocery store! So bizarre, but pretty dang cool. D also mentioned that this Market was featured in National Treasure? Cool I guess.

Seating is very limited, so get comfortable with sitting by complete strangers =) It makes the experience that much better!
I spy an Amish girl!! D and I couldn't stop staring... awkward! Their lifestyle fascinates us! We couldn't get enough of them.
Entry sign
It's almost illegal to visit Philly and NOT eat a Philly Cheesesteak!
I may get lynched for this... but cheesesteak's aren't my fave. I don't hate them, but I don't love them.
This Ice Cream Parlor has been established since 1861!!! That's insane! I love old companies.
One of the many meat markets! I spy pig's feet!
This was a bit shocking to me! I've harvested moose, caribou, etc... but seeing ducks cooked and hung like this was shocking to me! HAHA I've never seen anything like that before.
Next stop: Independence Hall

The Liberty Bell
Waiting to tour Independence Hall
Entrance Hall. The craftsman's ship of buildings these days is nothing compared to back in the day!
Courtroom... look at that orange!!
Where the Continental Congress was held!
After the tour, we headed over to where Benjamin Franklin is buried. Except when we got there the cemetery was closed. This is probably the creepiest cemetery I've been too.
Funny Story... So when we were reading the signs about the cemetery being closed I noticed this grave stone that had a bunch of flowers and pennies on it and thought it was the weirdest thing. Like, why the penny's. Who is this guy?! It took us like 10 minutes to figure it out... it's BENJAMIN FRANKLIN'S GRAVE! HAHAH We literally looked at it for 10 minutes and were oblivious to the fact that it was right by the gate. Plus it saved us 6 bucks to go in there! Thanks Benny!
The next day we started out by tracing my roots thanks to D's research! My Grandma on my mom's side grew up in Philly and we traced down one of the houses she lived in! I wish I had researched where she lived other then this one house but I'm thankful I got to see it.
The neighborhood now is really rundown and a lot of the houses on this street had bashed in and boarded up windows... it just breaks my heart... Luckily when we pulled up, the owners of the house stepped out side onto the porch to set something down, so I took that chance to tell them that I was going to be taking photos and video of their house! I didn't want to scare them, and they asked why and I told them the whole story of how my grandma lived there as a baby and blah blah. They were SO NICE!!! They talked to us for probably 30 minutes about when they moved in and all of that. It was amazing to hear the history. I thought they were going to invite us in to see the inside for a bit there but they didn't which is fine. I'm just so thankful I got to see one of the houses!

We then headed over to the famous Rocky steps at the art museum. They had this amazing fountain at the bottom.
Of course I had to get a picture with the Moose! Anything that reminds me of Alaska I document!
Not far from the fountain is the Rocky statue! Don't be afraid to be cheesy and take photo's like these because everyone else is doing it! It's actually hilarious.
At the top of the steps
Another cheese ball thing that you won't be embarrassed to do because everyone (literally, everyone) does it... RUN UP THE ROCKY STEPS! How can you not if you're there?! And Yes! You must do the all famous pose!
Pretty dang close!
Proud of my Irish ancestry!! My great grandma immigrated with her parents from Ireland to the US via Philadelphia!
I thought it was interesting that they had every countries flag on this main drag
A friend of mine mentioned the our church was building a temple in Philly, but I assumed it was the outskirts. So when we were walking around I noticed it right away! It's literally down town!! I've never seen that before besides in Utah! Pretty cool.

The After Christmas Break Hangover

There IS such a thing as needing a vacation from your vacation. Alaska was a great time, but man we were exhausted when we got back to Virginia. It took us almost the whole month of January to get back into our routine.

I started back up nannying "my" two kiddos, and I caught a cold from one of them that turned in
this... See how swollen that one side is?! This was when I first noticed it swollen but it hurt to eat. Like I had cut my tongue and would sting when I would salivate.
Then the next morning I woke up with a goose egg on my neck so I went to the doc!
I was certain it was a swollen Lymph node because of the cold I had. But come to find out is was a Salivary Gland Stone. Like a kidney stone in your mouth! OUCH! So after getting antibiotics, and eating lots of sour candies and lemons, the stone passed and now I'm normal again! It was so random. Apparently a lot of people have been getting these stone from lack of water during the night while they have a cold and your saliva backs up and blah blah. It hurt, bottom line. So beware my friends!

A few months after we got here I found some furniture at a thrift shop that was in great shape and insanely cheap! So I bought it. The previous colors were hideous so I started to paint finally when we got back. The mirror is done, and the one of two dressers is half done! So that will be shown later.

Before:
After:
One day we went to Olive Garden with a giftcard we had and afterwards we went to a store called "World Market" I had never been and D told me I would love it dang.... it's a naughty store! Naughty like, everything in it is cute and my bank account may be in trouble! They had so many fun and old toys, and magnifying glasses!! I can't remember the last time I even held one of these! We originally went into get some Kinder chocolate but then we I had to look around. Not only did we not even get the chocolate, we left the store with a new mug and utensil jar instead... hahah I may have to make a trip back there before we move....
